How it works
Through a guided process, angel investors receive training around the investment and the due-diligence process.
At the end of the program, 6 finalists will pitch to an audience of community members. During this finale, a winner will be chosen to receive an investment of $150,000.
The Grande Finale
The OKGN Angel Summit Finale is the culmination of a 10-week program where accredited investors and startup entrepreneurs are trained in the capital-raising process. On March 16th, six remaining companies will make their final pitch for the $150K investment fund.
First Nations leader, Canadian businessman, and Author, Chief Clarence Louie, will be taking to the virtual stage to deliver a keynote address. He has been the Chief of the Osoyoos Indian Band for an impressive ten terms and has received numerous recognitions and accolades, including; being a recipient of the Order of Canada and being inducted into the BC Business Hall of Fame and Canadian Business Hall of Fame. During his talk, Chief Louie will share his insights from his progressive work with the Osoyoos Indian Band and inspire us on how we can create stronger communities through entrepreneurship and economic development.
After the pitches, while the investors deliberate on a winner, Renée Warren and Dan Martell will join for a fireside chat. This husband and wife duo are both successful, award-winning entrepreneurs and experienced investors. Renée coaches female entrepreneurs through her business, We Wild Women and Dan helps SAAS founders scale through his business the SAAS Academy.
In addition to a giant cheque, the Summit Finale is really all about celebrating community and strengthening connections in Western Canada’s startup ecosystem. The Summit Finale will be hosted on Remo, a virtual networking platform that allows for attendees to move around the venue, gather with friends in small groups, and chat one-on-one with other guests.
As a startup in the technology sector, one of the hardest parts of scaling the business is fundraising. The amount of time it takes to schedule, meet with investors, go through due diligence, etc. The OKGN Angel Summit allowed 24 companies to pitch in front of 30+ investors all at one time! Now we have new relationships being formed with investors we likely would never have met.

The Angel Summit is a rare opportunity to look under the hood when it comes to raising external funding for a start-up venture. We made great connections to local investors, as well as other entrepreneurs and have a much better sense of the road in front of us now as we move towards our goals.
